Fensler Makes
Comeback At Altamont
Source: Beebe Racing - Date: June 23, 2005
Jason Fensler entered last
Saturday’s race at Altamont winning four out of the five races
held so far this year. He entered the evening with a
thirty-three-point lead and looked to increase that lead at
Altamont.
Jason remained in the top three all day in practice and was
looking forward to qualifying. Some of the early cars timed in
with fast laps, but Jason determined to gain more points in
the qualifying bonus got quick time with a time of 18.002.
With a six, eight, or ten invert possible Jason was hoping for
the best. When it came time to draw the invert he drew a ten,
which would mean he would have to start tenth putting Jeff
Anthony on the pole for the race.
The race got off to a smooth start with Jason working his way
up from the tenth starting spot to fourth by lap 20. A yellow
flew for a spin in turn three and that would set up a restart
with the top four being Jeff Anthony, Ken Boyd, Harold Reiker
Jr., and Jason Fensler running fourth. On the restart Jason
got a good jump on third and passed Harold Reiker going into
turn one. Another yellow flew on lap 24 and the officials
determined Jason had jump the previous restart sending him to
the back of the field. With a long way back to the front Jason
went to work picking the cars off one by one. On lap 63 he had
worked his way up to fourth and spent the next ten laps in
second chasing down the leader Jeff Anthony. With 19 laps to
go Jason passed Jeff Anthony for the lead and lead the rest of
the way for his fifth win of the year.
“It’s been an great year Eric, Ty and everyone at Beebe racing
has done an awesome job”, explained Jason. “I made a mistake
on the restart and was put to the back for it. The car was
real lose for the race and I was real uncertain how far back
up to the top we could make it.”
With the win Jason increased his point lead to 49 points, as
this is now the half –waypoint of the season. The series
returns to action Saturday July 2 at the Stockton 99 Speedway
where Jason has won the first two events held at Stockton so
far this year. Jason also leads the Apex Financial Qualifying
points with 21 and Troy Ermish in second with 12.
Jason would like to thank the entire Beebe Racing crew for
their hard work, and especially thank Allen Beebe for the
opportunity to be a part of such a great organization. Jason
